MANY local jobs and businesses have been damaged by the lockdown and the pandemic. Hamilton West and Earnock Councillor Mark McGeever warned that unprecedented job losses will hit the area without real government help.
He said: "Local companies need help to stay afloat and keep staff, but they also deserve support to innovate with new products and services. It's essential there's training so people can get new jobs, and the council works with universities and colleges to help make it happen.
“The council must really focus on making South Lanarkshire a competitive place to be, with the skilled workers and great road and transport links business need.”
